Features of the College

Bangladesh Medical College (BMC) boasts modern facilities including a 6-storied academic building with 5 fully air-conditioned classrooms, departmental tutorial rooms, air-conditioned dissection hall, and well-equipped laboratories for Pathology, Biochemistry, Physiology, and Pharmacology. Advanced audiovisual equipment features multimedia projectors, computers, slide projectors, and microphone systems. The air-conditioned library holds over 7,500 books including latest monographs, subscribes to international journals, offers digital resources, and seats 100 students.

Teaching Methods

Teaching is imparted through lectures, demonstrations, tutorials, ward clinics, practical classes, field visits, guided study tours and surveys on health problems. Monthly clinical meetings are held on a regular basis. Teaching aids such as overhead projectors, slide projectors, multimedia projectors, television, computers with internet are used in the teaching of students.

Student Attendance

Student attendance is recorded in attendance registers. Attendance is compulsory and students are liable for fines of five hundred taka per day for failing to attend classes without permission. Students are eligible to appear in the Dhaka University Professional Examinations only if they have 75% attendance in classes in the respective subject.
An Academic Calendar is provided to every student to help him/her understand the schedule for the year. Every student is also assigned to a particular member of the faculty for guidance with regard to individual problems

Student Assessment

Student assessments are made through periodic class examinations (Item Examination, Card Completion, Term Examination) those include written, oral and practical examination.

Internship

Students who have been awarded the MBBS degree by the Dhaka University have to do one year of internship at the Bangladesh Medical College Hospital for full registration with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. Internship Programme is conducted as per Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC) prescribed rules.

Admission

Admission to the Bangladesh Medical College is through 1st year. The number of seats available per year is one hundred and twenty (120). Admission is based on merit and is very competitive with a high ratio of applicants to available seats. Admission will be according to national policy guidelines. 5% of poor and meritorious students are given free studentship as per Government rules.

Local Students

Local students are selected as per government admission policy. Admission is based on merit score conducted by Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).

Foreign Students

Seats are reserved for foreign students. Foreign students interested to get admission to BMC must possess qualifications equivalent to SSC and HSC with total GPA of 7, but minimum GPA 3 in SSC and HSC equivalent examinations. Students who have passed '0' level with best 5 subjects and 'A' level with 3 subjects (Biology, Chemistry & Physics) with minimum 3.5 in Biology are eligible to apply. Students who have completed 12th grade in USA are also eligible to apply.
All foreign student candidates must submit equivalence certificate from directorate General of Health Services, Govt. of Bangladesh and attested copy of foreign passport along with the application. Candidates selected for admission in all categories will have to submit two stamp size photographs for identity card and medical fitness report from designated doctors of BMC.

College Fees

Information regarding admission, tuition, exam and different heads will be provided separately as and when applicable. A student has to continue paying his/her tuition fee till he/she passes final professional examination.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees are payable within 7th day of the current month, failing which a fine of 5% will be charged. The name of the student will be removed from the College Register if tuition fees are unpaid for three or more months. The student will then have to seek readmission on payment of full arrears dues and a fine of Tk. 10,000- (Taka ten thousand). Tuition fees will have to be cleared up before each professional examinations. Fees for the Session 2025-2026.

Fees for Local Students

  • ✅ Admission Fee = 19,44,000 (Nineteen lacs forty four thousand taka)
  • ✅ Intership Fee = 1,80,000 (One lac eighty thousand taka)
  • ✅ Tuition Fee = 6,00,000 (10,000 taka X 60 months)
  • ✅ Grand total = 27,24,000 (Twenty seven lacs twenty four thousand taka)
  • ✅ Amount to be paid during admission = 60% of total amount (12,74,400) + two month tuition (20,000), total 12,94,400 Tk.
  • ✅ Rest 40% of the total amount need to be paid within next two (2) years (4,24,800 per year)

Fees for Foreign Students

  • ✅ Total required amount US $ 49,000 (Forty nine thousand US Dollars)
  • ✅ At the time of admission = US $ 25,000 (Twenty five thousand US Dollars)
  • ✅ Tuition fee ($ 6000 per year X 4 years) = US $ 24,000 (Twenty four thousand US Dollars)
  • N.B: If student want to withdrawlled from this course at any stage, he/she must pay full tuition fee for getting clearance from college as no new student will be allowed to get admission against the vacant seat as per national admission policy.

Physical Fitness

Students selected for admission must submit physical fitness certificate from BMC authorized doctors.

Free Studentship

5% free studentships are awarded every year to desiring meritorious students who do not have the financial ability to pay the College fees. Admission will be according to national policy guidelines. Students who are admitted against free studentship quota will not be given any honorarium during internship period
